Labour Analgesia
Epidural analgesia: Gold standard. Bupivacaine + Fentanyl via epidural catheter. Reduces maternal stress, improves fetal outcome.
GA for Emergency C-Section
Rapid sequence induction (RSI): Pre-oxygenate -> Thiopentone/Propofol + Succinylcholine -> Cricoid pressure -> Intubate.
Aspiration Risk (Mendelson Syndrome)
Pregnant women at risk from 2nd trimester. Empty stomach, antacid pre-medication, RSI, left lateral tilt.
Pre-eclampsia
Avoid spinal hypotension: pre-load with crystalloid. Epidural preferred over spinal for labour.
